Used CECO Adwest RETOX Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer System. Unit rated for 35,000 SCFM. System consists of a reinforced, insulated dual chamber filled with low pressure drop ceramic heat exchanger media. The process gas flow is automatically controlled by a zero leakage poppet valve mechanism which changes the direction of the gas flow at regular intervals via an integral programmable logic control PLC system. An external burner is used only for the rapid cold startup, typically 80 minutes. Only one RETOX fan is needed for the normal RTO operation (i.e. No purge or Combustion air blowers). During process combustion due to the abundant oxygen content of the process gas their is complete combustion when the ignition point is reached int he oxidizer (typically 1500-1600 F) Process hydrocarbons are converted to carbon dioxide and water vapor. With a sufficient concentration of solvents in the incoming process gas there the exotherm of the solvents makes the destruction of VOC's self sustaining and no auxiliary heat energy is needed.
